Hello

I am having a devil of a time with a Smitfraud whatever-it-is. I have completed all of the tasks asked of me before I posted the log and I am hoping someone here can give me a hand with this. I am also having a problem with something called AvenueA, Inc., MediaPlex and Webtrends Live. My Hijack This log is below. I will try to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Thanks in advance!

Hi Rachel,

Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi Rachel,

You posted only the top part of the SmitfraudFix log.

Please post the entire SmitfraudFix log and do not put it in quotes (as it is harder to read that way).

Hi Rachel,

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the ComboFix log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
Disable script blocking if you have Norton Antivirus installed so it will not interfere with the fix.

To disable Norton AntiVirus Script Blocking
Start Norton AntiVirus. If Norton AntiVirus is installed as part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security, then start that program.
Click Options. If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
In the left pane, click Script Blocking.
In the right pane, uncheck Enable Script Blocking (recommended).
Click OK

Trojan Hunter has been reported to detect combofix as Worm.Qiv.100.

It's running beautifully! And I just did a Spybot check and NO Smitfraud found. I also installed a Sygate firewall and it has been doing a great job keeping stuff at bay. Mike, I cannot thank you enough. You guys are awesome

Hi Rachel,

You are very welcome. Hope your computer continues to run smoothly. :flowers:

Hate to be like Columbo, but could you do just three more things...

Let's clean your System Restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows.
The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files.
This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)

1. Turn off System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK

2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
NOTE: only do this ONCE, NOT on a regular basis

System Restore will now be active again.

Please read and follow How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!

Hey Mike,

Done, done and done. Thank you so much. I donated a little something for helping me out. It would have cost me an arm and a leg if I brought this sucker into the shop to get it fixed!

All the best,
xo
