I have never been able to receive automatic updates either for Windows or Antispyware although i can retrieve them manually.
AVG on the other hand downloads updates automatically without fail.
I have tried various settings but nothing seems to give me automatic updates.
Could somebody advise please.
My operating system is W 2000 with SP4.
Firewall is ZoneAlarm PRO which is set to allow updates from Microsoft.
I have checked to see if all the correct boxes are ticked and they are but i still have feeling that the updates are being blocked by ZoneAlarm. Why i don't know.
I will investigate further.
Thanks,i had been thinking along those lines.
Thinking it through.I never have been able to receive automatic updates in all the time that i have been able access the Internet. No matter whether my firewall was ZoneAlarm,Norton Personal Firewall,Norton Internet Security 2005 or ZoneAlarm again. So i am a little mystified.
Thanks again for your help.I will keep you informed.
I thought you be interested.I have been in touch with Microsoft. It only took a day for them to respond.
They have put forward 7 suggestions as to why i can't receive updates automatically. It looks pretty involved.Looks like i will have to call in the Cavalry.
Keep you posted.
I will keep you informed. As a matter of interest, the email from Microsoft gives me 7 suggestions as to why i am not receiving automatic updates. They also have asked to be kept informed.
A further email has been received from ZoneAlarm with guidance on how to check that the problem is not ZA.
Looks like i will be pretty busy.
