I just purchased a new Jetway v2mdmp motherboard. It boots up fine, but will not recognize a hard drive and hangs when trying to locate the drive and will not go into the system BIOS. If I unplug the hard drive it will boot into the BIOS just fine. I have tried 3 different hard drives and 3 different IDE cables. Same problem. I feel the IDE connector on the board is faulty, but hope differently and that I am just missing something. Thanks for any suggestions you may have !

Have you set the drive's jumper to Master and then hooked the drive to the connector at the far end of the cable? Is there a second IDE connector on the mobo that you can try?

Sorry I didn't get back till now. Yes, I had tried the cable select options and the master/ slave. I am now finding that the motherboard may be at fault for damaging my hard drives. I bought a new one, tested it in my other computer, it worked fine, then I installed it on the Jetaway, and now it won't recognize in either computer. Anyone ever heard of a board doing this to a hard drive? Thanks for your help Usasma:)

It's possible for an issue with the motherboard to affect your hardware. For example, a short in the motherboard could allow extra power into other components which could damage them. Static electricity can also do this - did you unplug the computer from the wall and ground yourself on the metal chassis of the computer before reaching inside the case?

Thanks, yes I did ground myself and unplug the power and monitor. It happened to two hard drives so I am sure you are correct that it is some kind of short that caused the damage. I have gotten rid of the motherboard.
Thank you !!
