Contra Virus hits Mac.

I run both PC and Mac machines. My PCs have every spyware, antivirus software known to man my Mac has nothing. Today I am paying for that hubris.

Contra Virus has been written to infect Mac. It appears to be aimed specifically at firefox as the pop ups are all laid out with the firefox logo and general format. They direct you to the contra virus web site and do the same pseudo scan etc as the PC version. Additionally they minimize the firefox web page and hide it behind the contra virus pop up so any attempt to click on the firefox window results in clicking on the pop up and setting off the "scan". Initially it also seemed to infect the safari web brouser but that can be eliminated by using the Tiger Cache Cleaner. None of the available antivirus programs for Mac that I know of have found it.

Anyone have any insights into how to get ContraVirus out of a Mac?

regards Griswald

I don't know why you are having a problem. Go back and check the instructions and make sure you unzipped properly.

If you still have a problem, Super Antispyware removes Contra Virus.

Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.
