I posted previously in the wrong forum

I have something nasty and I can't shake it.

ok.. a little more disclosure as my memory regains control of my panic and rage. The original problem was QTTASK.EXE using 100% of my CPU time. So I followed a previous forum ( not bleeping) and [attempted] to remove the qttask problem and ended up with a BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem at which point I did some rooting around and the offending file was RUNTIME2.SYS. I followed yet a third forum and tried to solve the runtime2.sys pronblem and when I rebooted I was met with a BSOD and the offender was SR.SYS ( a system restore file)... I restored back to a previous date and began using a slew of anti virus stuff i found on the web ( any one that could be downloaded zipped as I still have time out issues). That led to total chaos. I have now used Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, Panda Anti Virus ( which found the runtime2 problem ) and am trying to use the McAfee Avert stinger but the QTTASK.EXE cpu usage is baaack. I am taking a break and corresponding on another puter now. I hope to run Avert and get a new HiJack log. Anyway thats full disclosure for the above mess. still sending emails . My Symantec message scanner is going off like popcorn. THANK YOU

Let me just say I appreciate anyhelp. It seems to me I need to salvage what I can on this box and start from scratch. I have tried everything albeit I am not tech savvy. I talked to Geek Squad and they seem to think Norton is all I need.. WRONG!!! I have to disconnect from the internet because the constant emailing however no spyware, malware picks up the bugs.

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum techdunce

Download and scan with the free 15 day trial of Counterspy V2
Save the report when it's finished:
1.Once Counterspy has done scanning, the 'Scan Results' box will appear.
2.Click on 'View Results'.
3.Under (Recommended Action),using the drop down menus at the side of each entry found, set EVERYTHING to 'Remove'.
4.Then click on 'Take Action'.
5.Once everything has been removed, click on 'View Details'.
6.Copy and Paste those details into your next reply.

*******************************

Please download DrWeb-CureIt & save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.

You should copy/print the following because you need to be in Safe Mode from here on.

Reboot your computer into SAFE MODE" using the F8 method.
To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Scan with DrWeb-CureIt as follows:
* Double-click on drweb-cureit.exe to start the program. An "Express Scan of your PC" notice will appear.
* Under "Start the Express Scan Now", Click "OK" to start. This is a short scan that will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it.
* Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
* Choose the "Scan tab" and UNcheck "Heuristic analysis"
* Back at the main window, click "Select drives" (a red dot will show which drives have been chosen)
* Then click the "Start/Stop Scanning" button (green arrow on the right) and the scan will start.
* When done, a message will be displayed at the bottom advising if any viruses were found.
* Click "Yes to all" if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
* When the scan has finished, look if you can see the icon next to the files found. If so, click it, then click the next icon right below and select "Move incurable".
(This will move it to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if it can't be cured)
* Next, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list.
* Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop.
* Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done.
* Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
* After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply. (You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report)

Also post a new Hijackthis log in your next reply.

OK.... I downloaded and ran Counterspyv2... went into safe mode and ran DrWEeb -CureIt... both found stuff. ( logs attached) After I closed Dr Web i was BSOD'd with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem ( runtime2.sys) Which started this thing days ago. When I rebooted then I was hit with the QTTASK.EXE using 100% of CPU.. which was the VERY original problem in the first place. I couldn't do anything in the computer. I literally pulled the plug.. went into safe mode, searched for qttask.exe and deleted it.. i dont even want to know wg=hat that did to iTunes. I restarted and began posting here. I assume the email problem is gone as the symantec scanning windows are not populating my screen ( fingers crossed) So honestly i do not know where I am at. I have benn al over the forums running all kinda of wares trying to rid this machine of stuff. I think it is no longer a search and destroy mission but a salvage mission. I might have to figure a way to save my music then wipr this all clean. Please give this a once over before I do that. THANK YOU ALL

*******************************

Please download Combofix and save to your desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/ComboFix.exe
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

Ok first off much thanks. installed the new registry and ran combo fix. Logg attached. Computer seems much beeter although I haven't put stress on it. Looking at the combofix log something has reared it's head. I didn't think about it but this computer is set up for three users ( mom, dad, children) all have admin rights, so when you log in you have to go to one of three areas. I have been doing most this work in one area and only becasue the desktop isn't cluttered. I have only been in the true admin account in the safe mode. I noticed the fix.reg was sent to the subsystem account I was in. Do I need to perform all the above procedures from the start in each account?
