It can be downloaded h e r e.

From the site:

Security
Apple engineers designed Safari to be secure from day one.

Thank goodness!

Finally a browser that won't be needing security updates!

Seriously, setting aside the fact that no program is ever perfect, it does seem like a good product. It's main competitor, in my opinion, is Firefox though, and not Internet Explorer as most seem to imply (TV and newspaper articles I've read.) Most people get IE for free with their PC, so the battle is mainly convincing folks to use an alternative.

Also, it does say it is a "Public beta", so we shouldn't be too hard on it until it goes final.

It will run on an iPhone - now that's got me all tingly inside.

It will be interesting to see---given Apple's reputation---when the first stable release is offered to computer users how quickly it will give MS IE a run for its money.

So far it looks pretty good - although it's a public beta it appears quite stable to me.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Am trying it now. Will take a wee while to get used to it but one thing, It doesn't fill out my widescreen. Can't find an option for that yet. (EDIT. Just maximise - DUH)
Mousing over a link gives no info which is frustrating.

Probably won't change FF addicts.
(Seen nothing which would make me change, so far.)

I'm having difficulty typing in the Fast Reply box with Safari. It keeps repeating letters and spaces  Then, when I click on Add Reply, it gives me an error telling me to type something into the Fast Reply box in order to post. ???

Another "glitch" is the organization of imported bookmarks - it's just not easy to see where they've been imported to. Did it 4 times before I recognized that it was doing it!

But, it is a Beta - and the error reporting is pretty durned easy. But, as usual, there's no feedback given.

Overall, I don't think that I'll be switching over any time soon. I'll give the RC a try when it comes out, and I'll continue to use it as an alternate when having access problems (the speed is impressive).

FWIW -

when I turn off the Phishing Filter in IE 7 (Win XP Home),

the site loading speed is very close to the same between Safari 3 beta and IE 7.

I've tried this on a few dozen sites, sometimes using one browser first and then using the other one first, and I'm not getting an appreciable difference.

Some people will like it because it is an Apple product, I'm sure, but otherwise, so far, Fx still is the best alternative to IE in my opinion.

Isn't "Fx" still the preferred abbreviation for Firefox according to the Mozilla folks?
