My problem is that when I try to install the Deus Ex game, it the program hangs when it is uncompressing the files near the end of install. I can't reinstall, and I can't uninstall because it did not unzip the uninstaller. I am stuck with this nonworking program, which is missing to many files to play, and there seems to be nothing I can do to correct the problem. Is there a registry edit or a special program to detect faulty installs? I tried hijackthis, but it did not detect a problem with the program.

You can try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

Another copy of Deus Ex and and installation should fix it - otherwise it'll take a bit of diving into the hard drive and the registry to remove the remnants.

Problem solved. None of the solutions suggested help. Even with other copies of Deus Ex, it would never finish installation. I did some digging, found the archived files that the install wizard was having trouble unzipping. I manually unzipped them with Winzip. I then copied the system files from the Deus Ex cd and pasted into system files folder on my drive, saving over all the existing ones. I even made the program on Windows 98 compatibility for good measure. It works fine now.
