I am looking for a way to download office 2003 basic from the internet. I bought the CD a while ago and I can't find the disk holder you insert on a laptop, I think I lost it. So I can't install it with the CD I bought! Do I have any hope, even with my product key, of getting this thing downloaded from the internet somehow? If anyone could give me a tip, that would be great!

Usually the case holds the CD-Key for Microsoft Office 2003 so if you lost the case
there is no chance of activating the software
You can rather get the trial version of it http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/default.aspx
For a limited period of time (for 2007 only)

Do you mean you lost the CD drive? You can download an open source alternative:
Open Office It's compatible with MS Office

What you could do is if you have the original CD and the KEY that reponds to it. Use software to create a ISO image of the Office CD you have. Then Copy that file to the machine it is to be installed on. Then use software like Deamon tools to emulate the iso as a drive letter. That will then let you install it as if it were a CD. This solution is only to be used if you have a legal copy of Office and the key to go with it.
