well with some of the suggested programs I seem to have removed the trojan downloader and several trojans and tracker cookies. Superantispyware was the one that finally did it. Thoguh even though i am not getting pop ups anymore I still not certian that i am in the clear. THe programs also continually set my cookie allowance to allow all cookies, after superantispyware that was fixed as well. So here is the updated log. I personally dont se anythnig suspicious but you have all been doing this longer then I have.

Thanks for looking and sorry for the sort of bump, I just wanted to get the situation updated and it really does not matter if i am at the end of the que at this point.

Hello,

Your second log still shows a problem:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntos.exe,

The ntos.exe file is a bad one, it can steal passwords and other information from your computer. You should go to a clean computer -- not this one -- and change all your online passwords: banking, credit card accounts, e-mail, everything. Then keep this machine offline as much as possible until we are sure you are clean. You should also notify banks and other financial institutions that your account information may have been stolen, and ask them to monitor them for suspicious activity. You should also monitor them yourself.

Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page.

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(this is the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix). DO NOT use it just yet.

Reboot your computer in SAFE MODE" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup [but before the Windows icon appears] press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Open the SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts, the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
  • Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.

Good luck,

Dave

Hello,

The bad line in the HJT log has disappeared!

Did you fix it with HijackThis before running SDFix?

Also, it looks like you ran SDFix in Normal Mode. Did you have trouble getting into Safe Mode?

Anyway, let's run an online scan as a further check:

Note that you must use Internet Explorer for this scan.

First go to the Kaspersky online scanner. Accept the terms, let it install an ActiveX program (since you have XP SP2 this is blocked by default, you must allow it), then accept the terms again, let it download the files (about 8 MB total). Click Next, and select "My Computer" as the scan area. Kaspersky takes a long time but it is very thorough. When it is finished, save the report as a text file (easier to work with than an HTML file) to your desktop.

Post the Kaspersky log to your next reply.

Dave
