Mouse Froze

On my Windows XP my Compaq mouse froze. I have rebooted it. My Compaq mouse will not allow me to complete the set up procedure. Any solutions on how to unfreeze my mouse. Thank you

Have you check to see if the mouse and the keyboard are reverse where they plug into the motherboard.
