I use Win XP. Media center edition. And Windows Defender runs on it too. I got a blue screen when i tried to log in the other day so i ran CHKDSK /F command on windows. It asked me to restard the computer to do it prior to logging in as it was on a read-only mode. (that's when i knew about the read-only mode) I did restarted and CHKDSK worked. gave some errors in certain pecentages but i did it again. In the process of the 3rd stage it showed REPLACING INVALID ID WITH DEFAULT SECURITY something somthing.. and start replacing over 150000 files. now i can log in to my login.. but i cannot copy paste, drag & drop, uninstall win defender as it gives an error 0x800106ba, it won't show the windows search/ no microsoft programs runs correctly, no win media player , and even no users panel in the control panel. i am a handicap in my computer. i need help. i ve got exams but this thing is a mess in head! thanks

I'd start by running SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run dialog. MCE has been known to have some issues with this, but it's worth a try. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/43051/how-to-use-sfcexe-to-repair-system-files/

Should that not fix it, then try a repair of XP (it'll leave your data and programs intact): http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
