I downloaded Ubuntu last night. I burned image to disc etc. Now I pop it in my computer and it reads teh disc then continues to load XP. I dont care if it overwrites my XP(as I hate microsoft & its a spare computer). So, How do I boot from CD, or install it?

Computer Details:

Make: HP Pavilion 513c
OS: XP home (no service pack, so im guessing sp1)

You have to enter the BIOS and make the CD drive the first boot device.

You can try "admin", sometimes works. Removing the motherboard battery (small, round, about the size of a nickel) for 5-10 minutes will reset it. Be careful and don't break the tab holding it in place. Slide a small screwdriver or knife blade into the holder and give it a twist. You'll have to reset the date and time also

On an HP, press the Esc key as the system starts to boot - that'll get you to the boot menu where you can tell the system to boot from the CD.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
