Hey guys, I've been taking the names off stuff using alt+255, and im able to do it to My Computer and My Documents, but I was wondering if its possible to do it to the Control Panel Network connections, Run and stuff like that? Would it be a registry edit or is there a simpler way to do it?

Thanks in advance =O

Umm... what? Please explain what you're trying to do, I don't understand what "taking the names off of stuff" means.

But why would you do such a thing?
Maybe because to minimize the start menu?
If you're confident enough to do so...,go ahead and take the risk of undoing the changes
although few people posses this type of knowledge,i strongly suggest not to do so
For whatever reason
But if you still insist, ill try my best to help you out
Registry edit for the control panel is possible but i just don't know how yet...
I'll search in to that and inform you if theres a method

Jbone80,

On my XP SP2 system, it is relatively simple to do what you want.

Right-click the Start button, left-click on Properties, click on the Start Menu tab, make sure the 'Start Menu' button is enabled, then click Customize, click the Advanced tab and disable whatever you want ("Don't display this item"). I disabled everything you described, and this is the result:

P.S. I'm switching mine back to the way it used to be before I posted this. Also, you do not need to edit the Registry.

I think what he meant was to remove the text only.
