Recently, my computer has been acting pretty strange. Slow. Pop-ups. The mouse seems laggy. And my DSL connection keeps dropping. Some of this, I imagine, has to be the work of a nice ol piece of malware living on my hard drive. I was wondering if you kind folks had any idea. Here's the HiJack this log:

Also, if you don't see anything bad in that list, let me know. Seems like it's a virus and gunking up the works, but who knows. Maybe I just need to slam dunk my computer into the nearest trash can.

Hello Buildy Smith

Welcome to Bleeping Computer!

Sorry about the delay. We're all volunteers here, and it's been very busy. If you still need help, please post a new HijackThis log to make sure nothing has changed.

Before posting the log, please make sure you follow all the steps found in this topic:

Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log <--link

And I'll be happy to take a look at it for you.

I also need to see a different type of log from Hijackthis:
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on "Open the Misc Tools section".
  • Next click on "Open uninstall manager".
  • Press the button 'save list'. It will open a Notepad file.
  • Place the content of that file here in your next reply.
Thanks, for your patience.

Stelios

Hi Buildy Smith

I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log.

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11

  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586 to install the newest version.
=====

Also remove Full Tilt Poker
See here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/uninstall/...Tilt-Poker.html
=====

Please go HERE to run Panda's Posted Image ActiveScan
  • Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only!
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Posted Image button
  • A new window will open.
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Posted Image
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
