I made a post and when I used the spell checker it said "iespell not detected. Click Ok to go to download page. " In a Windows internet explorer popup box. The result of clicing OK is ...
http://www.iespell.com/download.php

Question is should I d'load it? As I've never seen this before and I spellcheck often. Wondering if it's a forum glitch or somehow it has disappeared from my machine.

Thanks

If you're at home, you can download it. If you're at work, then no. It's for commercial use only, so at my work (government) I don't have it on my computer nor can I install it. Installing it shouldn't effect anything, and should only run when you do a spell check.

If you don't want to install it, you could copy and paste your post (once finished typing it, but before hitting "submit") into Word and do a spell check. If I've got words I think I've spelled wrong, I'll do it, unless I'm tired or simply don't have the ambition. Nothing wrong with spelling phone et ick cali.

Thanks Steve, I guess I'll dload it. I was just unsure as to why,all of a sudden I didn't have it. I check almost every post I type. I'm an exceleent speller but terrible typist. so i make many errors. It seemed odd to now need to install something that was always there. I was also wondering if the checker is part of the BC forums software?
This is the dload link

With the forum upgrade spellcheck was omitted. I have voiced my concern to TPTB to recitify that error.

Some things to try:

>>Look under Manage Add Ons > Add Ons Currently in IE & make sure you have these three:

Ie Spell Browser Extension (enabled)

IE Spell Options (enabled)

IE Spell Extension Class Active X Control >IE spell.dll (enabled)

>>Use the Spell Check button on your tool bar instead of the forums button

>> Go to the IE Spell page manually & try downloading again from a different mirror, saving the file to your PC & installing with IE closed. BTW, it works on my end using either button. Using IE7.

Or, you could use Firefox, which has an automatic spell checker.

I just noticed that the forum spell check button shows up in IE but not in Firefox.

Thanks but as the AniMod says it' been disabled.

Casting Vote #1 to please include it. Well maybe it's #2, since Animal said he requested also. It helps with my typos.

Thanks to all for their info

I wanted to update everyone on incorporating a Spellchecker into the forum software. There is only one such add-in module available at the present for the current version of IP.Board, and it appears to have enough bugs or problems so as to prevent BC installing it at this time.
Cheers,
John
