Ok so, i was wondering if there are any good ripping and auto tagging players.

i have a stack of rock, heavy metal form the 60s - 80s and didnt want to tag them myself

i tried WMP, but it labled my iron maiden albums incorrectly and was sure there were other ablums that were tagged incorrectly.

thanks

I use CDex, and haven't had any problems with it.
It'll tag your rips in either ID3 V1.0, or V2.
It also allows track normalization, automatic shutdown after ripping, CD playback, add files to an M3U play-list, several encoding options, and other features.

Yes it does.
The ID3 Version selection box option allows you to select which ID3 tag format will be used by CDex.
The advantage of ID3 V2 over V1.0 is that the track/artist/comment fields are not limited to 30 characters.
Although support for ID3 V2 is common now, you might want to make sure that your player supports it, otherwise the player may not even play the MP3 files.
More details and background information about ID3 tags can be found at id3.org
