I noticed that whenever I visit a web page, "about:blank" appears for a split second at the bottom of the page. Is this normal or could it be malware? It just started to appear the last month or so (unless I just hadn't noticed before). But I haven't had any problems.

about:blank has to do with URL interpretation by most web browsers as the command to display a blank HTML document.
FYI, here is a list of common 'about' addresses by Wiki.

About:blank can be one of the most common but hardest to remove variants of CoolWebSearch malware.
