Hi i get a stupid pop up in the bottom right corner of my screen every 10-15 mins or so, and i have the option to "allow attack" or "block attack". when i click on "allow attack" it will just come back in 10 mins. If i click on "block attack" it brings me to a web site that tells me i need to purchase winantispyware. It is really annoying and i would like to get it off. here is my log:

Hello and welcome to BC

Click Download RogueRemover . Select "Save" and save to your desktop.

Please put RogueRemover in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named RogueRemover).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder RogueRemover.

Go to where your RogueRemover.zip is and Right Click on RogueRemover.zip, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (RogueRemove) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

Double click on the file named RogueRemover.zip and unzip it to C:\RogueRemover

Double click on the file named RogueRemover.exe and select Scan.
The program will walk you through the remaining steps.

===================================

Please download ComboFix

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop.

Close all browsers.
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log taken after a reboot.
  • Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hi,

You're welcome. You might like to print out these instructions so that you'll have access to them while you're in Safe Mode later.

Please download Ccleaner and save it to your desktop.
Tutorial for CCleaner
During the installation be sure to UN-check the box for "Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar" unless you want it. Do not scan with it yet.

======================================

Download AVG Anti Spyware

Use the link at the bottom of the page under "AVG Anti-Spyware Free for Windows"

Posted Image
  • Install AVG Anti Spyware
  • Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch AVG
  • On the top of the main screen click Shield
  • Click the word active to change it to inactive
  • On the top of the main screen click Update.
  • Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
  • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
  • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
When you have finished updating, EXIT AVG Anti Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

========================================

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode using the F8 method below.
a. If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
b. Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
c. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
d. Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
e. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

=======================================

Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and remove

SurfAccuracy

=======================================

Scan with HijackThis and put a checkmark against the following entries:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C68AE9C0-0909-4DDC-B661-C1AFB9F5AE53} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SurfAccuracy] C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy\SAcc.exe

Make sure that all windows are closed, except HijackThis, and click on "fix checked". Exit HijackThis but stay in Safe Mode.

=======================================

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to locate the following folder and delete it, if found:

C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy

=======================================

From Safe Mode run Ccleaner
  • Click on Options,
  • Select Advanced
  • Now UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
  • Make sure the Cleaner block on the left is selected.
  • Do not use the "Issues" block . It's meant for professionals.
  • Choose the Windows tab.
  • Check everything EXCEPT Advanced part of the Menu.
  • Click on "Analyze". This process could take a while.
  • If you don't want to loose your login passwords to certain sites, click on Options
  • Select cookies and move the ones you want to keep to the "cookies to keep" section, by highlighting and using the arrows in the middle.
  • Choose Run Cleaner.
When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished. Click Exit.
If you have more than one users, run Ccleaner for every user

========================================

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
  • Launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
  • AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
    Once the scan is complete do the following:

  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.

  • Click on Posted Image located at the bottom of the page.
  • A "pop up" window will appear. Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  • Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click "Free Online Scan" The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place
Begin the scan by selecting Posted Image
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.
  • Click on Posted Image then click Posted Image and post back the contents please.
* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.

==========================================

Please post back the results from AVG Anti-Spyware and Panda online scans, and a fresh HijackThis log. Let me know how the system is behaving now.

Panda Activescan didnt offer me a log, it did say i didnt have anything though.. if you want me to scan it again and try for a log i can do that.

AVG Anti-spyware didnt give me a log as well even after i clicked on save log automatically after every scan, it shows no history of my scans. i did write down what it scanned and what it deleted:

(1st scan)

Worm.VB.an - Done - High
Adware.rogue.suspect - Done - Medium
Trackingcookie.webtrends - Done - Medium
Adware.Minibug - Done - Medium
Adware.Winanti - Done - Medium
Adware.Winantispyware - Done - Medium
Adware.Winfixer - Done - Medium
Adware.VB - Done - Medium

(2nd scan)

Trackingcookie.paypal - Done - Medium
Trackingcookie.2o7 - Done - Medium
Adware.Minibug - Done - Medium (This was in my first scan as well..)
Adware.Winfixer - Done - Medium (So was this)
Adware.VB - Done - Medium (And this...)

if you need the complete log.. i guess you may have to help me figure out how to get the reports or find them or what not.
I dont know if this would be the problem... i didnt run AVG Anti-Spyware in safe mode because everytime i tried to open it in safe mode it told me i needed to reinstall, so i tried it in normal mode and it worked.. you told me to go to Add/Remove programs and delete "surfaccuracy" but it wasnt there, nor was it in program files..

Anyway if you need me to do anything else ill do it. Any other suggestions on how to make my computer better or faster?

Hi,

Panda Activescan didnt offer me a log, it did say i didnt have anything though

That's good.

AVG Anti-spyware didnt give me a log as well even after i clicked on save log automatically after every scan, it shows no history of my scans. i did write down what it scanned and what it deleted:

AVG Anti Spyware has recently released a new version and some settings have been changed which are being discussed at the moment. That's why you were unable to get a report. Thanks for taking those notes. It appears that AVG Anti Spyware took care of the remnants and some tracking cookies.

you told me to go to Add/Remove programs and delete "surfaccuracy" but it wasnt there, nor was it in program files..

That's OK. It's not showing in your log anymore.

I'll try to download the latest version of AVG Anti Spyware and check it myself before I can give you new instructions on how to run it. In the mean time, how is the computer is running now?

Hi,

Glad to hear that.

thanks for you help, would you recommend me keeping all the programs you told me to download or what should i do with them?

You're welcome. Please remove/delete all the tools I asked you to download, except AVG Anti Spyware and Ccleaner. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there otherwise just delete them. Also delete this folder and empty recycle bin:
C:\QooBox
Since AVG Anti Spyware is a trial version, the realtime guard and automatic update will stop functioning after the trial period. That is why we are not installing the guard so it will not interfere with the cleanup or the malware removal process. You can use AVG-AS as an on-demand scanner (recommended) but you will have to manually update the definition file each time you scan.

Ccleaner is also a useful tool to keep for cleaning your cookies and temp files on a regular basis.

For the new version of AVG Anti Spyware, I was able to get a report by doing the following:
Under "Reports"
  • Select "Do not automatically generate report after every scan"
When the scan is completed, click on "Click on " Save the scan report ". Then, select "Save report as" from the left pane in the next window to save the report. Post back the contents of the report please.

Hello again,

C:\Program Files\WinRAR\Default.SFX -> Worm.Agent.bj : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

I believe this is a false positive. You might like to restore that file from the Quarantine folder. The rest are just some cookies which Ccleaner will clean for you. You are all set to go.

Create a new System Restore point to prevent reinfection from old restore points.

Go to Start>Run and type sysdm.cpl. Press Enter
  • Select the System Restore Tab
  • Place a check in "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • Click Apply
  • next, uncheck the same checkbox.
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK
You can also find instructions on how to disable and re enable system restore here:
Windows XP System Restore Guide

A colleague of ours has excellent information and tips on the prevention of malware here and more on improving speed/system performance after malware removal here .

Happy Surfing! :thumbsup:

Yes, but let me have a look at the content before you do that to make sure that there isn't any other false positives.

OK. C:\Program Files\WinRAR\Default.SFX is the only file you would want to restore. You can delete the rest.
