I just want to be able to print from my laptop to 1 or, if possible, 2 printers
from anywhere in the house. I don't want, and refuse to have, wireless internet.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS740 running Win XP Pro
says with "integrated Wireless LAN - Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g)"
Internet access is by wired cable.

I have no idea if that is meaningful, but it sounded useful.
I have also connected wirelessly thru it when on the road.

I assume I'll need something called a 'wireless print server'.
What I am unclear about is - does that communicate directly with my computer
or does it only communicate with a wireless router? (Wireless internet thingie).
Can I plug 2 printers into the wireless print server?
It then transmits its wireless vibrations thru the air to my computer where
I can choose which printer to use just as I would if it were wired? Yes/No, sort of?

I'm actually fairly computer literate, and pretty wizz bang at software, I just suck at hardware!

Any guidance, advice and recommendations would be most welcome.

Thanks,
Betrock

Check PCMag.com That's all I can say, read an article a few years ago. However I do know you WILL need a wireless card but WILL NOT need to connect to the internet.

Thanks, Ryan. I have a wireless card (came with the computer (see my post above). I undedrstand I won't have to connect to the internet, but I didn't know if I need the router anyway to make the print server work.

I've got a wireless print server and it needs a wireless router to communicate with it (although I haven't done any research to see if it's possible to use it directly from the PC). I'd suggest finding a model that you like and reading up on the specs.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
