Hiya to all who read this. My mom's computer screen will suddenly turn black. You can't do anything to bring it back except manual shut down. My Q is....monitor or video card? I believe I have my old video card that came with my computer that I could swap out to check, and I could always take over my monitor to check that also. Would there be anything else that may cause such a thing? Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Yee

Both good ideas.

Try swapping the monitor first, since you don't have to do as much work.

If you still have the problem, then swapping video cards would make sense.

Let us know, OK?

You could check the Event Viewer for any error messages at the time the screen goes black.

I just wanted to let you know that my mom went out and bought a new monitor and it's working great. Thank you again for your suggestions and insight.
