I'm having trouble installing messenger. I click "get it free" than I choose to "run". After the installing window comes up and after clicking next I get this error message:

Posted Image

How can I get by this error message?

EDIT:

Someone told me this:

After downloading the installer exe file, open it with Winrar and extract

the MSI file.

Then you can right-click and install from there.

Note that this likely isn't a supported installation scenario, but it might

get you past the bootstrap.exe error that you might be encountering.

I'm not familiar with Winrar and have no clue how to extract, can someone tell me how? (i do have winrar though)

Okie. I have did a screenshot and I hope that it can help you.

First, download the installer file from the website to your desktop.

And you should see the winrar file in your desktop, just right click the file and you will see something like below.

Just click on the Extract to here and the file will be extracted to the desktop. Now double click on the file and follow the instruction on the screen.

When you say download the installer file do you mean clicking save when it asks you whether you want to run or save? If yes i've done that many times and no icon appears on my desktop.

You properly have saved to another location. After you have pressed save, choose the location. Let the location be in Desktop.

I got up to the part where you told me to "extract here". Now all of these icons appeared on my desktop:

So what icon do I double click to get the instructions?

Right click on desktop, go to New > New Folder. Name the folder anything you want. Now drag all the files you have extracted to the folder you have just created.

Double click on the installer and see how it goes.

Ok so after following instructions someone gave me:

1. Download the install_messenger.exe file to your desktop -- done
2. Right click it and select "open with winrar"
3. The archive should open in winrar, showing you the contents which should include files like "MsnMsgs.msi", "bootsrap.exe" and so on.
4. Select MsnMsgs.msi and extract it from the archive (to a place you can find).
5. Run MsnMsgs.msi

I did all this, but now I get a new error message:

Have you tried downloading Messenger from another site? May or may not work, but worth a try. Try It From Here

It wouldn't let me install it from that site, it took me to the site i've been trying to download it recently. I also tried downloading Messenger Plus! from this website (which worked) but it doesn't do anything, I still have my crappy windows messenger.
