No Midi Sounds From Web Pages

I had windows media player 10.0 on windows xp
I installed wmp 11.0 then I could not hear mid files (music) on web pages.
I uninstalled 11.0 and restored 10.0 but still can not hear mid sounds
on web pages, I can hear wav files...any suggestions how
to correct this problem will be appreciated...Thanks...
