I will be using the help available on this forum to try to clean up my machine. I must say after reading some log analysis threads that the assistance available here is quite amazing. The clear and patient instructions I've been reading have already calmed me down considerably from my earlier panic when I was told (elsewhere)there was nothing for me to do but reformat my hard drive. I have been taking notes and will be following every step to get the logs right and hopefully get rid of the malware. Thank you all for being here and for so generously sharing your time and your knowledge.

It is an all-too-easy solution, but one that usually works, to reformat and reinstall Windows. This process, however, means a lot of work saving data, files, and preferences, and then having to re-install every application you need as well as updating everything. I am sure that with BC's help you can avoid this last resort.
Welcome to this friendly user community!

John
