My problem is this:

Whenever I open multiple files within Excel, they all open within the same window. I will have different panes, but whenever I close Excel with only one of the panes active, it closes all of the files. This prohibits me from performing 'Tile Windows Vertically', because they are all within the same window.

Is there an option or customization command within Excel, which will allow me to open files in multiple windows?

Thanks for any help.

For this to work you will need to open multiple instances of excel. I.e open excel and then search for the file you want to work on. Open excel again and then do the same. This will activate mulitple instances of Excel. If this is not done it will always open in the current open instance.
