When turning of XP pro, The door of the CD-Rom opens.

Any ideas why?

Could you be more specific? At what point does the tray open during the shutdown? Do you have an anti-virus software (if yes, please specify which one)? What is the model/make and specifications of your computer?

Once this information is out there, the problem can be solved much easier.

Are you sure you don't have anyone around that likes to pull practical jokes?

Does it work other than that? Don't know if this is relevent:

"To stop the CD recorder from automatically ejecting the CD
Open My Computer.
Right-click the CD recording drive, and then click Properties.
On the Recording tab, clear the Automatically eject the CD after writing check box."

or try uninstalling it in Device Manager and reboot and Let Windows redetect the drive

Nice town. I have relatives down there. I hung around down there back during the trouble on May 4th. I just remembered I have two nieces going there now
