Please Help!!! Using Limewire to download movie files I found after one of the downloads my computer started to play up. I tracked the problem to Limewire "shared" folder but no matter what I do I can't seem to delete the folder even after uninstalling Limewire! I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. Every time I try to delete the Shared folder or go anywhere near it it tells me it encountered a problem and it needs to close down. Please help!!!
Thank you

Have you checked the folder's Properties?
Right click the folder, and select Properties.
Make sure it's not set to Read-only.
If it is, uncheck it, click Apply, and click OK.
Now try to delete it.

If none of the above works, here are a couple of programs, you can try:

Eraser
Unlocker
Delete DEoctor

Hi Fozzie,
Thank you for your advise. Unfortunetly none of your suggestions worked. Soon as I got to the Shared folder I got an "Error" message and everything shut down on me. Thats what happened with the three software programs as well. What ever I managed to get infected with must be very nasty the way it keeps shutting programs down when anything gets near it. By the looks of it I have no option but to re-format to get rid of this nasty bug.
Thank you again,
Leo the Lion

Hi tg1911,

Yes I have, no luck. Same thing happens as in normal operation. Soon as I get to the "shared" folder I get the Explorer message that it encountered a problem and it needs to close, and everything freezes. The only option I get is to click Send or Don't send error message and no matter what I click the whole system blacks out for a few seconds and returns to normal Windows operating mode. I know I will have to re-format but it became a bit of a challange trying to get rid of this nasty bug.
Thanks for your help anyhow....

It's in Documents and Settings folder between My Documents and Start Menue folders. I have tried every possible antivirus, spyware, malware, etc. you can possibly think of but I still get the same message as indicated before and it shuts down.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note:In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • "Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the "All Files" button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

enter here the path of the shared folder

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
  • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "OK" at any PendingRenameOperations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually

Hi fozzie (Sorry, I don't know what happened before)
I followed your instructions, but unfortunately the link for Killbox didn't work. I found one on your website which I downloaded as per your instructions, but I couldn't follow it from "copy the file paths below to the clipboard" Below? Where? Sorry for being a pain but I lost it from here. If you could give me further instruction I would be very greatful.
