 I have searched Hi an Low for an layman's description of how to setup up a safe, secure wireless home network.
Without getting into geek language can anyone help me?
This what I have now:
Cable modem (Time-Warner)
Wireless router ( Netgear WGT624 v3)
First desktop: custom built, now running XP Home, soon to be dual boot with Vista Home Premium, hardwired to the router, HP series 5600 printer interfaced via USB
Second desktop: Dell Dimension C521, with XP Home only, communicating to the router via a Linksys 2.4 GHz Wireless G PCI adapter, HP series 1600 printer interfaced via USB aso.
Notebook: Sony Vaio VGN-FE-890 with Vista Business

How do I
1) setup the router so that each system connecting to it is secure, I sometimes shop online, security is a must
2) setup the notebook to print from one, if not both printers?
I would prefer to use the HP 5600 as the primary printer for the notebook

Once again, since this is a wireless setup, eavesdropping is a major concern for me, I do realize I have to set a password, however the jargon I have dealt with so far has me totally lost............hence the name newbie.........

Thanks in advance!

2 good sites for networking help:

http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/
http://www.ezlan.net/

Don't worry about getting a headache when reading this - that's normal!

Seriously, the best way to start is by deciding what kind of security you want and how many different features you want to use. Better = more complicated
Then work on the router first, setting the security up in it.
Next, connect one (and only one) of the computers and thoroughly test it to ensure that it's working correctly.
Then connect the other computers in the same way.
