I have recently been having problems playing media files in windows media player. I have had problems such as a rapidly shaking picture, poor colour display, no picture but sound etc. with various movie files. I seem to have a particular problem playing .avi movies in windows media player. I have set up .avi files to be played by wm player in folder options, so can only assume that i need codecs or media player updates to enable the movie files to work. Is there anywhere I can obtain updates and/or necessary codecs for the media player. Also how is it best to install them - actually in the player or in a separate location.....

Download and use the DivX pack, it's excellent and works a charm.
