Have recently noticed a white menu background behind my menu headings in all programs and the writing in the bottom IE bar. I am using XP Home with service pack 2 and have scanned with TrendMicro Internet security, spybot and adaware latest versions. I can't think of anything I may have done (changed settings, installed programs etc). Is this caused by some type of malware? And how do I get rid of it? Thanks,Gail.

Can you post a screenshot.

I too am having this issue, however I'm not entirely sure what has caused it. I initially believed it to be the fault of my graphics drivers (and that indeed may still be the case), but now I'm not so sure. I have my visual effects set to best appearance (and even tried custom with everything checked), but to no avail. However I should note that it does not occur in every menu (for example, Firefox, IE and Windows menus like My Documents), but it does arise in some program menus (Notepad, Adobe Acrobat, Corel Wordperfect, to name a few). From what I've been able to determine (not that I'm a computer expert), its either another one of those Windows updates that screws something up, or a graphics driver problem (I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400). I've tried four different graphics drivers (Catalyst 7.2 through 7.5) to no avail. I've had this problem since around March; I would try earlier Catalyst releases, but then the drawbacks would outweigh the benefits. I've done spyware and virus sweeps and found nothing. Two screenshots below:

Thanks for any help that you're able to provide.
