OK so I said i would work on my friends laptop since he said he was having problems. Did he have lots of problems ... First thing i Notice is his Anti-virus was never actually installed and since i didn't have the key handy that came with the lap top I went ahead and got him a Anti-virus program downloaded and did a Boot scan and probably got ride of well over 1000 hits that it noticed without even being updated, I then updated it and continued the scan to get ride of more of it,

I notice that he had some pesky adware so i went ahead and downloaded spybotS&D and Ad-Aware updated and got ride of a lot more ... But then i noticed he had some other really Pesky adware. So an a attempt to cleanse his laptop and found Smitefraud fix and Vundo Fix got ride of most them and also got AVG anti-spyware to get rid of some of the others.

I am still having the occasional POP up or Win32: trojan-gen being caught by the Anti-virus i have installed, I can only think that there is still a few viruses, spyware, or adware that are not being caught by the those programs listed.
I was told to come here and post my HJT scan since i had tried most everything else

Hello there and welcome to BleepingComputer. My name is Charles and I will be dealing with your log today.
I have noticed that you do not appear to have a firewall installed. This is an essential piece of software that acts as an extra layer of security, which restricts access to your computer from the outside world.
Therefore, please download one of these free firewalls:
Zone Alarm
Kerio
If you would like some more information about firewalls and how to use them effectively, take a look here.

Before we start with the fix, I see that you are using an unpatched version of Windows. We can help you, but first you need to help us.
Any reason why your windows isn't up to date? You don't have even ServicePack1 installed!
Remember that your system is extremely vulnerable without the necessary security patches/updates, so malware can get installed automatically while surfing without any problems.
Please visit http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...p1/default.mspx and update to Service Pack 1. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
When your system is clean afterwards, then update to SP2, because updating to SP2 can cause problems as long as you are infected.

Download Combofix to your Desktop.
Go to Start | Run and type:
"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /wow
Then hit OK
Follow the prompts that are displayed.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt. Post that in your next reply.

Scan again with HijackThis and post back the new log along with combofix.txt.
Thanks,
Charles

Thanks for your time ... I went ahead and installed a firewall onto the PC But my friend needed his Laptop back before i had the chance to update Windows * I think he had a Hacked version*. Anyways I let him know that he still had some Adware/Viruses on there but that it was running better. I haven't heard him complain since so he musta been happy with the Result.

Thanks for the Firewall links

Jetti

Would it be possible to have the requested logs, just to make sure?
