Last year I got McAfee Internet Security Suite v8 and tried to install it after first removing the v7 product.
A long succession of problems ensued with McAfee providing totally useless stock answers and promising to contact me from their second line support staff.
After 3 such promises failed to be delivered I removed every shred of McAfee from my pc - including registry entries.
BUT I still have 2 unresolved problems -
1) when I close down IE6 in WindowsXP my modem does not disconnect from the line and I have to physically unplug from the phone socket;
2) my internet progress icon (in the bottom right corner of the screen, looking like two flashing VDUs) has totally gone.
Does anyone have a solution short of totally reinstalling XP?
