When I download email and try to save something to WORD the save turns into an unreadable format and I notice notepad is always present. I may have changed some setting(s) and not understood what I was doing. OR, is my pirated version of MS Office being attacked by mighty Microsoft Money Gestapo? I only use WORD because it is so prevalent and many people I know use it. I am also wondering if I can use free Open Office and save things in the WORD format. I just would like to send pics and text that everyone can see and read.

The quote is from the Bleeping Computer Rules.

Since you admit that your version is pirated. We cannot allow this thread to continue. I will close this thread. However since you do ask about the alternative with "Open Office". I will say that yes you may use that, and it is compatible with MS Word and you should not have any issues. You can then either uninstall your pirated MS Office and use OO.o or just avoid using the pirated MS office.
