A couple days ago, after Windows Update had finished downloading updates, I selected to Shutdown my PC, allowing for the update to install prior. While the download was being installed, my surge protector was accidentally yanked from the wall. Ever since I rebooted, when I insert blank writable DVD media, it is showing up as being full and labeled as a RAW File System. I have tried uppdating my optical drive firmware, running chkdsk /f and chkdsk /r, and also reverting to a previous restore point, all to no avail. I have ran Nero InfoTool, and it will recognize the media as being blank, but Windows will not and my Nero Recode program will not. Any suggestions?

Try a free, standalone tool (such as Deep Burner: http://www.deepburner.com/ ) to see where the problem lies. If Deep Burner works, then it's the Nero that's broke. If it still has issues, then it's likely that Windows is broke.

For Nero being broke - uninstall the program, then reinstall the latest version available from their website
For Windows being broke - start out by running SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from the Run dialog.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
