I am using Windows XP home and every time I start up my computer, I immediately get a screen titled 'Retroexpress.exe-Common language debugging service '. Below that it says "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled" It then gives some process and thread info. It gives me a choice to either 'Click OK to terminate application' or 'Click cancel to debug application' If I click 'cancel' it then says 'Registerered JIT Debugger not available' etc. If I click OK the screen disappears. I have been living with this problem for the past few months by just clicking OK because after the screen disappears the computer operates totally normal. Any help I can get with this problem with be greatly appreciated. Please keep it simple as I am not a techie.

Description:
retroexpress.exe is the executable for Retrospect Express HD, a backup utility by Dantz Development Corporation.

I'd suggest uninstalling this program and reinstalling it if you need it.

I uninstalled the program as suggested and the error message disappeared however as soon as I reloaded the program the same error message reappeared. The retroexpress program is in the software that operates my Maxtor One Touch external drive backup. In the past, I had operated my Maxtor external program without getting an error message however now for some reason a few months ago I started getting the error message and even though I have now I uninstalled the program which got rid of the error message---as soon as I reinstall the program so I can operate my external drive, I get the error message again as described in my original post. Does anyone have any suggestion what I should try next ?? Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Problem solved. I found that the problem was not actually in retroexpress.exe but was in Microsoft .net framework 1.1 so I uninstalled program and installed later version 2.0 of .net framework which solved retroexpress problem.

Go here: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/
seagate has several upgrades/updates listed for the Maxtor one touch drives
The name says it all -- 59 and holding permanently
