I have a very strange kind of problem....

whenever i press on shutdown, my computer gets shutdown abruptly at once and restarts on its own and it starts checking c: drive for any problem.

thought for viruses but on scanning didn't found any virus, yeah i noticed that whenever i join usb to my computer and double click there it opens in another window and my antivirus shows a virus for that....on healing it goes away but if i again double click it virus resumes

My os: Microsoft windows XP v2002 SP2
Intel R celeron 2.93Gh
AVG 7.5 antivirus

Any help would be appreciated.....

it could be several things like a bad power supply or over-heating.

Clean the inside of the computer.

It sounds like whatever you're inserting into the USB port is infected - and each time you insert it your system may be getting re-infected.

Insert the USB device and then do an entire system scan with AVG (make sure it's updated) and with your antispyware program (also updated).

If that doesn't fix it, just head over here and read the directions for posting a HiJackThis logfile: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
