Fedora Core 6 Ftp Setup

hello i was woundering if any one knows how to setup FTP in fedora i want to creat a user say "John" for example to be able to login to my ftp and have write permissions but how do i go about this i have tried but failed any help would be greatly apreacted many thanks dave

Create a user named "john" or whatever. Assign a password. Set up the server. Of course, I have no idea what you tried, so I have no idea what to suggest. Maybe this will help?

I had a server set up on fedoracore6 awhile back, if I find the config file I'll let you know.
