Doing a XP reinstall with the CD-it asks for the certificate of authenticity number.
Can't locate it on my Dell (not on the CPU),can't find record of it.IT IS a legal XP.
Q-Any way Dell or Microsoft can track this for me since I have registered it?

Try phoning Dell and/or MS. They both have it. If you haven't formatted yet go to Control Panel>System, its under the General tab.
