It stores it as a System file in the folder of the music file.

In Windows Explorer, go to Tools - > Folder Options and then go to the View tab. Select "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" and you should see the images in the same folder as the music file itself. The only problem is that it gives it a weird system name, and changing it doesn't work very well.
