Hello all,

As you've gathered I'm a newbie and sorry to start off my first post with a cry for help.

My laptop is playing up as I have Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start on most services. I cannot use the following

wireless internet
firewall disabled
no sound
unable to copy and paste files and text
apps tend to sit on top of taskbar

I have scanned laptop for virus and spyware all clear. My last resort is to rebuild but I need data off the hard drive. Any ideas anyone??

Thanks in advance.

Which services have failed to start? You can probably locate this information in the Event Viewer (Start...Run...type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter).

Once you locate the service, you can use the same steps as above with "services.msc" to get into the Services applet and may be able to start the service(s) from there.

If not, further troubleshooting will be called for.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
