Howdy Slammy,

No infection showing here - what led you to thinking your system has that particular infection loaded? With the higher CPU issue, as it has been an issue on other systems do you happen to have Windows Auto update enabled at this time? Post back on that and let's take a different look for now.

Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here.

Hi Jintan....yes i do have windows auto update on, but it just downloads them, and then i choose when to actually install them. I hope that answers your question. Looking back, i cannot remember what i read that led me to think i had a particular virus, but i could be waaaay wrong on that assumption. Thanks again for helping. Slammy

Nothing much more in that, as far as infection. Try disabling automatic updates and check for improvement after that for now.

If disabling auto updates does help, you really will want to check recent similar threads in the XP forum on that issue. Quite a few solutions last I saw, so not sure if MS has provided a clear picture yet.

Good to go. If you do receive THE solution to that high CPU usage with the updates enabled issue be sure to let me know. There are many workarounds - some work here, some work there - so if one works everywhere that's the one.
