Windows Word Screwed Up

On one of the computers at my school, windows word has been messed up for a while. when you type anything, instead of the character showen on the keyboard showing up, another one shows up. i have searched everywhere and cant find a setting to change this. can anyone help me?

Go under Regional and Language Options, in the Control Panel, and then Languages and select Details. Make sure the proper keyboard is selected.

thank you! none of my teachers could figure out how to fix it and the school TECH is too busy with some network problem to do anything...
