Hello There,

I have A.V.G. Free edition as my antivirus program.
However I am not particularly computer literate in this area and was wondering perhaps if someone could tell me how to tweak this programs settings to maximize its effectiveness.

I look forward to hearing back from you

Faithfully Richard Milner.

I'm not 100% sure on this, so hopefully I'll be corrected, if needed...

To maximize AVG's effectiveness: Do nothing.

Good luck!

On further thought; by "tweaking settings", you're not referring to "standard" tasks, like setting up automatic updates, or scans, are you?

AVG "out of the box" as it were, will install with all its functionality optimised; all you, as a user, need do is to keep it updated (there is even an automatic scheduler for scanning and updating if you are the forgetful type), and perform scans as needed.
Cheers,
John
