Hi have been looking around for anyone who could help on how to find out what would be causing problems for system.ini to be hanging XP pro from shutting down.
Went through entire msconfig and ALL of system.ini files are hanging at shutdown (tried ea. one at a time) I have system.ini disabled now.
I think I learned that system.ini in XP Pro only helps in older windows programs.
Could I find out through another wizard or program in XP of what in system.ini Xp doesn't like?
I believe my issue is either driver or most likely software...
I just learned about enabling a boot log which I'll do tom'row but is there something esle I could open up and look in?

BTW looked in event viewer, device mgr, system info, ran dr. watson. These are not corrupt system.ini, just if I check off any system.ini files XP hangs (and locks up) at shutdown.
Thanks for your replies!

Go to Start...Run...and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then click on the System.ini tab and take a screenshot of what's there and post it here.

Another option is to locate the system.ini file in the C:\Windows directory, right click on it and select "Open" - then copy and paste the info to your next post.

FYI - this is the system.ini file from my XP VM:
; for 16-bit app support
