Hey

Decided to do a bit of a clean up yesterday. Just deleting old files, virus scan, adware scan, disk defrag etc. Since then its all gone crazy. After rebooting i noticed my two disk drives weren't showing up in my computer and modem wasn't installed. A PCI interface thing was also uninstalled (not too sure what the is). In the device manager it explains that the drivers are up to date and working but the hardware cannot be detected.

In an effort to get back to a good state i tried System restore and on two different restore points it failed. Next i tried windows update. Havn't done it in awhile so i needed about 16 updates. When they were downloaded it said it had to abort as the system was in an unstable state? GOT THAT RIGHT FOR A CHANGE!

First time posting a log like this. Hope its all there. Cheeers!

Hello rixzer,

You have a Trojan.Webus.D. It is a Trojan horse program that connects to an IRC server and opens a backdoor on the compromised system and a dailer parasite. :flowers: We will get rid of those. Better change your passwords after we are done cleaning.

*************************************************

I need to check a suspicious file.
Do you know what this is or what is does? Did you install it?
[System32 TCP Manager] systerm.exe

If not, Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/
press the Browse button and upload C:\WINDOWS\System32\systerm.exe to the scanner, and let me know what it finds. Copy and paste the output to this thread.

*************************************************
Open IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Security>Trusted Sites, and delete those entries:
http://ad.searchsquire.com
http://search.searchsquire.com
http://update.searchsquire.com
http://www.searchsquire.com

*************************************************

Please boot into safe mode and select the following with HijackThis.
With all windows (including this one!) closed (close browser/explorer windows), please select "fix.

How to Reboot into Safe Mode
tap F8 key during reboot, until the boot menu appears...use the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode" from the menu......,then press the "Enter" key.

Next, we're going on a file hunt.
Go to My Computer and double-click C.
Go to the Tools menu and select 'Folder Options'.
On the 'View' tab select 'show
hidden files and folders
' and deselect 'hide protected operating system files (recommended)'.

Find and delete each of the following. If you can't delete an item, right-click it and click properties. Make sure 'read-only' is unchecked.
If you still can't delete something, right-click it and rename it to a random word. Then drag the item to a different location. Try deleting it now. If you still can't, be sure to let me know.

Delete the following files/folders in bold:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\saristar.dll <==file
C:\WINDOWS\system\lsvchost.exe <==file

*************************************************

Let empty the temp files:

When in Safe Mode, open notepad and paste in the following lines:

del c:\ *.tmp
del %temp%\*.tmp /f
del %windir%\prefetch\*.*
del %windir%\temp\*.* /f
del C:\documents and settings\*\local settings\temp\*.* /f

Save to desktop as 'clean.bat'. Make sure before you save to set 'file types' to all types. ( *.*)

DoubleClick on the icon, and say Yes when prompted.

*************************************************

Reboot and post a Hijackthis log, and tell me how you comuter is running.
