4 days ago I started getting massive pop-ups while surfing. I use Firefox but all the pop-ups are coming up on IE. I have looked around and tried to fix this problem using avg anti-virus, avg anti-spyware, noadware, ad aware SE, smitrem, smitfraudfix, spybot S&D, and active scan to no avail. they have slowed down a bit, but I am still getting them. I'm at wits end. Help please. Thank you.

Hello sheeshman :flowers:

Seems your running two antivirus programs AVG antivirus and F-Prot Antivirus. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash. This also leads to false positives and your computer will become less protected.

If you choose to install more than one Anti-Virus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.

There are basically two types of these programs:
On-Access and On-Demand

On-Access Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that run in the background all the time the PC is turned on and running. The main function of an On-Access scanner is to monitor activity on your machine.

On-Demand Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that only run when you ask them to.
Such as:
Online Scans and scanners that run on your machine but are not actively scanning your machine.
Please uninstall one of the antivirus programs running on your computer!
------------------------------------------------

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

Step 1

Please go to UploadMalware to upload a suspicious file for analysis.
  • Enter your username from this forum
  • Copy and paste the link to this thread
  • Copy and paste this file path in the Browse box:
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdfncpgb.dll
  • In the comments, please mention that I asked you to upload this file
  • Click on Send File
Step 2

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Step 3

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
Step 4

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
Please post back with VundoFix report, SDFix report, dss scan reports main.txt and extra.txt

You are being helped at http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/I_cant_get_...p_-t156726.html.
With the amount of logs, it would be wasteful to have multiple helpers work on one log. I consider this thread closed.

I am sorry for this. I was about to tell you I was sorry for wasting your time. I jumped the gun with this problem. I will only post to one forum if/when I encounter another problem that I cannot fix. Sorry again for wasting your time as I know what you do is time consuming and you get paid nothing.
