I am getting the "Windows could not start because the following is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system" error when I tried to boot up. I have spent numerous hours searching the net to find a fix, but nothing is working. This pc is a Dell Dimension 8400 with XP. I have tried the whole recovey console bit and everything else on google. Could someone please help me. I beg you!

I tried your first suggestion already, and it says that a file could not be found. I also have tried the repair install, but I dont have the option to do the repair.

Yes, it will ask you for your product key. Therefore, please get ready for your product key.

Your data will not be lost, however, to be safe. You may want to do a backup before you repair windows.

Ahh.. great.

Remember to do the necessary backup, in case any of this stuff happens again.
