***********************

Please download Combofix and save to the desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/ComboFix.exe
Note:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.

I've done what you said. Firstly, when i did the combofix, it said it is trying to reboot, please let combofix reboot or similar and then it closed everything including explorer and just did nothing, i couldnt type or anything so i waited a few minutes and nothing happened so i held the power button to do an instant turn off. Im not sure if it was supposed to happen but it did, anyway after it booted it made the log as it was meant to. Secondly, i havent clicked the fix or clean button in hjt and im not sure if was supposed to or not, i just got the log. And here are the logs.

You are using Download Accelerator Plus - DAP.
Be informed that it delivers popup/popunder ads,and tracks your internet usage.
You can find safer alternatives here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=dlman#dlman
I strongly suggest you remove this program.
If you agree, go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove 'Download Accelerator Plus' if present,then reboot.

************************

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.zip

Please then reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following :

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
* Choose your usual account.

* In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
* Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the script.
* It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
* When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt into your next reply.
* Also post a new Hijackthis log please.

And we have a problem... i restarted, and hit F8. It took me to the screen where you choose from the different boots, i chose "Safe Mode" at the top and it took me to another choice between "Safe Mode Recovery Console" or "Safe Mode Windows XP", so i chose XP and then it started to boot listing drivers and such. Thats where theres a problem, it does that and then stays at the list. It says at the bottom for about 5 seconds to press escape to cancel loading from STDS.sys or something similar. I tried once booting with that and another without it and both times it froze there for a few minutes. The computer was making no sounds and the light was flashing very faintly once in a while so im pretty sure its doing nothing but perhaps there is an antivrus scan that happens during the driver loading and the computer goes really really slow?? should i try again and just leave it for 10 minutes or longer??

You can do but i don't think it'll help.

Do you happen to have Nero InCD installed,if you have make sure you have the latest version installed.

Try using the System Configuration Utility method,don't think it'll work,try anyway:

* Close all open programs.
* Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG in the box and click OK
* The System Configuration Utility appears, On the BOOT.INI tab, Check the "/SAFEBOOT" option, and then click OK and Restart your computer when prompted.
* The computer restarts in Safe mode.
* Perform the troubleshooting steps for which you are using Safe Mode.
When you are finished with troubleshooting in Safe mode, open MSCONFIG again, on the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck "/SAFEBOOT" and click OK to restart your computer

Finally back, i had some troubles getting the computer to reboot and then into safe mode. Heres what happened. After the computer starts up it tried to go to safe mode automatically (due to boot.ini change) and it tried to but after the black windows xp starting screen, the screen stayed black for a few minutes so i held the power button and reset it. Then when it started it wanted me to do a check disk and so i pressed escape to cancel, the computer then got stuck on the check disk screen showing a dot for no reason. anyway it started up and those two steps happened again so next i went to the start with last successful settings or whatever its called and then it got stuck at the black screen after the black xp starting screen, this time i left it and it did eventually start in safe mode. Finally i got it all done and got back to normal mode and so here are the logs.

Check: 'Perform Complete Scan'.
Click 'Next' to start the scan.

Superantispyware will now scan your computer,when it's finished it will list all/any infections found.
Make sure everything found has a checkmark next to it,then press 'Next'.
Click on 'Finish' when you've done.

It's possible that the program will ask you to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
Click on 'Preferences'.
Click on the 'Statistics/Logs' tab.
Under 'Scanner Logs' double click on 'SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log'.
It will then open in your default text editor,such as Notepad.
Copy and paste the contents of that report into your next reply.
Also post a new Hijackthis log,let me know how your pc is running now.

OK, firstly, the popups are gone and the firewall has stopped telling me that it is blocking stuff, also the net speed is back to normal (apparently i was being pinged). However, when i plays games (Unreal Tournament 2004 and Battlefield 1942, yeh i know theyre old) they are occasionally a bit jumpy when they used to be just fine with the same settings but thats proly not related to this stuff. One more thing is when im usin firefox is that it often gets the server not found and fails to load but it works on a refresh after, happens alot and is annoying but dunno if its related, maybe im just stressing my dial up connection a bit. Anyway here ar the logs:
