I just installed 2.0 over 1.5 without any problem, the update should not touch your profile.....but I did back it up, just in case.

Just click on the green button in the link jgweed has provided, then allow the installer to download to your desktop.
Make sure Thunderbird is not running, Back up your current profile (just to be safe), and then run the installer. All your settings and mail should still be there.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

I, too, had absolutely no problem updating to 2.0, and all my preferences and stored E-mails were still there.
Cheers,
John

I did have a problem, lost everything. No I did not back up my profile.

Tried restoring my computer but that did not work.
TB does not even seem to be connected to internet.
Have problem receiving mail and cannot even write mail.

Is there anything I can do?

Re-installing solved my problems, sorry to disturb.
