Driver Update - Access Is Denied

Hello everyone --- hope all of you are fairing better than I am at the moment with my Dell Inspiron Laptop running windows XP -- I tried to update my wireless driver with Dell reccomended new release and during installation I got the message "installatiion .... failed ----- access is denied"/ I have tried every thing possible -- logged in as admin - safe mode -- disabled device etc... nothing works --- if anyone has any ideas please help.

was the device working prior to the install attempt? Is it working now? Have you tried your System Restore to a point before the problem accured?

Yes the device was working prior to this problem, I have tried to restore but as of this moment I am still facing the same problem - no matter how I try to update the driver get the same message~ it looks like the driver install process starts and during the process I get "access is denied".
