Hi there, I just followed every step in the... Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log!
The problem im having is all of a sudden while in the middle of playing a game or browsing the web my computer stops! It just stops for about 20 seconds up to a couple minutes. The weird thing is is that when i push num lock the light still goes on and off, so its not like its actually frozen. Then all of a sudden whatever it was I was doing just pops back on the screen and i can carry on like nothing ever happened! Last but not least, I have a lot of pics on my computer and one folder wont open unless i open it with Paint Shop Pro. When I click on it the messege i get is "Data Execution Prevention... to help protect your computer, windows has closed this program". Then another messege after that that says windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Any suggestion would be appreciated on how I can fix these problems. Oh and one more thing... I know a couple people on my MSN list that have recently gotten viruses one way or another so Im kinda worried about that too, but every virus checker i've used said that there wasnt one there!
Heres my log....

Hi Tiara25,

I don't see anything malicious. I don't know what is happening with that file, but I do see a likely conflict between Symantec and F-Secure. It looks as if you had Norton installed and attempted to uninstall it? Can you confirm that? You have two instances of Norton's updater still present and I assume still running. If the freeze ups happen about the same time every day, it could be because Norton is trying to update itself and overloading your CPU.

To stop this if this is the case, do the following--only do this fix if you have attempted to uninstall Norton and thought it was gone and you don't have any other Norton products that need updating.

Scan again with HijackThis and put a checkmark next to the following entries:

O23 - Service: Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe
O23 - Service: LiveUpdate - Symantec Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUCOMS~1.EXE

Close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop and Taskbar--and then click the "Fix checked" button, then reboot.

Then, even if you don't do the above, please run this scan:

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply. If you have any problems with the logs, both can be found in C:\Deckard\System Scanner.
Note: some firewalls may warn that sigcheck.exe is trying to access the internet - please ensure that you allow sigcheck.exe permission to do so.

The fate of all mankind, I see

Is in the hands of fools
